Erika Margarete Jansen was born in Meppen, Emsland, in 1964 and grew up there with her eight siblings. After her education as a fashion designer, she worked for a fashion company in Cologne for a long time before devoting herself entirely to painting. Today, she lives with her family in Ratingen and is the mother of three sons.
She creates strong and emotionally charged images in her studio. Accompanied by calm, classical music, the works of art come into being and, at the same time, she creates a poem that brings together the power and the energy of the image. Her works of art are extraordinary compositions, some of them up to two meters wide, into which she incorporates, for example, quartz sand and gemstones. She paints with her hand, without a brush, and uses unusual tools and materials, such as sewn paper, which she joins together using the sewing machine.
Her art touches the soul and radiates peace and strength. At her openings, exhibitions, and events, she has for several years exhibited her artwork
accompanied by a performance of music and readings. Venues include churches, local shops around Ratingen and also cultural events.
When someone has chosen a work of art, she helps them to find the right place for it in their home. They can also borrow the picture for two weeks without obligation to see if it is the right choice. In addition to paintings, she also makes poetry books, cards, sketchpads- and notebooks.
